The first volume of Rugby Greats, published in 1975, was a bestseller. Featuring 25 of New Zealand's greatest rugby players, it sold almost 30,000 copies. The second volume (1982) featured a number of players who had missed the first 'intake' of 25 plus those who had achieved greatness in the meantime. The third volume (1997) featured a further 25 greats, many of whom had graced the wonderful World Cup-winning All Blacks side of 1987.
